Comedian, actor, director and musician, Steve Martin is best known for his award-winning comedic roles in films such as The Jerk, Roxanne and Father of the Bride. He is also revered for his performances on NBC’s iconic sketch comedy show, Saturday Night Live, where Martin frequently appears as a guest star and host.
In recent years however, Martin has emerged as a talented bluegrass musician releasing several albums including his recent collaboration with singer-songwriter Edie Brickell, Love Has Come For You — for which Martin and Brickell are currently performing on tour.
Now Martin has listed for sale his beloved St. Barthelemy vacation villa, Villa Au Soleil. Martin, who fell in love with St. Barth while vacationing there, bought Villa Au Soleil in 2008. Martin retained much of the villa’s island charm, which can be felt throughout the home.
Luxurious and very private, Villa Au Soleil is beautifully situated high in the hills of Lurin – not far from the harbor side capital of Gustavia with bars, bistros and boutiques. Martin would often have friends down to the Villa, including former SNL cast member Martin Short.
“People are first drawn to Villa Au Soleil by the opulent layout and extraordinary views and then after they arrive they find themselves falling in love with its hominess and warmth,” said Peg Walsh, Founder of St. Barth Properties Sotheby’s International Realty. “The tropical colonial charm that is felt throughout the house and the grounds seems to be the magic ingredient that has so many people declaring that they have found their ultimate home in St. Barth.”
Lush tropical gardens with a lily pond and a fountain enhance the back of the villa and provide a setting for an ajoupa. This Balinese style gazebo, provides a Zen vibe and a wonderful niche to relax or to entertain friends.
Villa Au Soleil is one of the finest homes in St. Barth and is currently listed for sale with Tom Smyth of St. Barth Properties Sotheby’s International Realty.
