Jeffrey Katzenberg, film producer and CEO of DreamWorks Animation built his Park City, Utah home with his wife, Marilyn, nearly 20 years ago as a tranquil mountain retreat for their family. Sitting atop the private gated community of Bald Eagle Club, the home is the ultimate ski destination for family gatherings and entertaining friends.
The exterior surfaces including the steps, patios and driveway are all heated to alleviate the over 300 inches of average annual snowfall the area accumulates. The home was designed by the late architect, Charles Gwathmey, who was world-renowned for his bold geometric and modern style, and in conjunction with Park City architect Rick Otto.
Although the home was designed with modernism in mind, the interior retains a cozy cabin feel and has been appointed in a true mountain western style. Designed by Naomi Leff, who designed some of Hollywood’s biggest stars homes including Ralph Lauren’s Double RL Ranch in Colorado.
Leff decorated the home with authentic western art and antique furniture, which are included as part of the turnkey sale.
Although built with family in mind, the home has also been a delightful place to host friends. With generous private space and numerous areas to entertain a group, including a billiard room, separate game room and multiple living areas, the home has hosted guests such as Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Michael Jackson, Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz.
The home has a ski run right to the back door and to a ski room featuring a lounge, bar and fireplace. After a day of skiing, enjoy impeccable mountain views overlooking Park City or relax in the indoor pool, spa or sauna.
